Christian Retreat House

Quiet Waters is a large Georgian house offering comfortable accommodation for both residential and day guests.  During your stay we want you to feel as if you were at home!

The accommodation is arranged over three floors with a grand staircase providing access. There are two large reception rooms, small guest kitchen, Chapel and eight bedrooms; two doubles (one with ensuite), four twins and two singles. Most of our bedrooms offer washbasins and all have tea/coffee making facilities. The dining room is down a short flight of stairs (stairlift equipped) and looks out onto the gardens. Our maximum residential capacity is 8 individual guests or, with sharing of rooms, 14.

Our two ground floor bedrooms are available for the less mobile and share a recently upgraded wet room with walk-in shower.  

Towels and bed linen are, of course, provided for guests.

Set in two acres of gardens our guests are free to enjoy the various areas during their stay. A suntrap walled garden is immediately behind the house and leads to the kitchen garden and then onto the riverside meadow. Resting on the banks of the River Waveney this grassed area with summerhouse and lots of bench seating enjoys wonderful river views and beyond, over grazing cattle on Stow Fen, to Bath Hills in the distance. Many a guest has caught a fleeting glimpse of a Kingfisher from our summerhouse! A secret woodland walk then leads back to the house, gently meandering through our wild area which provides a haven for wildlife including Muntjac deer, pheasants, hedgehogs and rabbits.

QW is a Grade two Listed Georgian house with lots of charm, character and history. We have done our best to make the building as user-friendly as we can with ground floor accommodation for those with mobility issues. There may be instances, however, where an individual may find areas of the house not easily accessible - please email us with any access questions and we will do our utmost to help.

We have a large car park at the front of the house.
